T-38 Talons
A still from an all-CG VFX shot that serves as a good introduction to compositing for my visual effects students. The original model is from Turbosquid by EGPJET3D. I added a lot of detail to the geometry and re-textured the plane.

Fleshy Orb | Maya/V-Ray Displacement Test
What started as a displacement test with Maya and V-Ray, ended as a unsettling alienesque fleshy orb, floating in a mysterious void. Modeled and animated with Maya, rendered with V-Ray, textured with Substance Designer, and composited with After Effects.

Kowloon Alley
This is a revised version of a render that I created as a student. The scene was created in Maya and rendered with mental ray. Due to the size and complexity of the scene, importance sampling with irradiance particles was used instead of Global Illumination and Final Gather, which drastically improved render time. I was asked to write an article entitled "Creating Detailed Urban Scenes" for the March 2015 issue of 3DCreative, in which I discuss my process for creating the image. See the issue here: 3DCreative Issue 115, page 92-97.

This image was also awarded with a 3DTotal Excellence Award and was featured here. The original piece, without much post-processing, was featured in Ceiga, Issue 14. View the original version here: Original Kowloon Alley.

Through the Breach
Two sci-fi planes soar through the clouds. Modeled and textured with Lightwave and Photoshop, and composited in After Effects.

Desert Flyby
A futuristic aircraft flies low over a dry desert airbase. The inspiration for the craft came from a manta ray, an insect, and a bird. The aircraft, ground, and objects were modeled, textured, and rendered in Lightwave 3D. Composited in After Effects.
